The TrueData “Quick Install” guide for
Artisoft TeleVantage 5.0 on Windows 2000 Server
(Note: If using TeleVantage Small Office Edition, you may use
Windows 2000 Professional – the installation procedure is the same)
This document is only to be used as a reference and should NOT to
be used in place of reading the “Installing TeleVantage” Manual.
Step 1 - Hardware Installation
Open the server and seat
your Dialogic boards in the appropriate slot type (ISA or PCI). Verify that you have adequate cooling to keep
these boards cool.
You will notice a knob on
each Dialogic board with a number – set your Trunk board to 0 and your station
card to 1. (If you have more than two
boards, use 0,1,2,3…etc. starting with your trunk
boards). Each board must be on its own
ID.
Each Dialogic board has a
bus connector (ISA has a 26 Pin, PCI has a higher
density connector). Use the cable
included with your station board to connect these boards. The cable included with your Station board
will have 4 connectors. If you only have two boards, you will only use two of
those connectors. All of your Dialogic
boards in your system must be connected together using this cable.
Your Station card has a 3”
power connector on the back of the card – You must connect the Station card
power supply (included) when the computer is OFF.
Power your server on, and
immediately enter your BIOS (usually delete or F1 at the boot screen). Disable ALL unneeded resources. Example: COM2, LPT1, secondary drive
controller, etc. Save an exit your BIOS
to continue booting.
If you are using PCI
hardware, Windows will prompt you for a driver – just click “Do not install a
driver for this device” and proceed.
Step 2 – Software Installation
We
recommend that you have a fresh copy of Windows 2000 Server installed on the
system before proceeding. Be sure to
setup your Network settings (computer name, IP address, etc.) BEFORE installing
TeleVantage. If you are not
comfortable configuring your Network settings, you should not be using this
quick install guide. You will not be able to change your
computer name after installing TeleVantage without going through a lengthy
process. Log onto
Windows as "Administrator" with the appropriate password. If you are thinking of changing your Windows
Administrator password, change it NOW.
After installing TeleVantage, changing the Administrator password
becomes a process that requires several steps.
