How it Works
Overhead paging is fairly easy... There are two variatons of paging systems:
1 - Single Zone - you page everybody in your office all at once.
2 - Multi Zone - you can page different departments (or floors) individually.
You have 3 components to a single zone overhead paging system:
1 - The Paging Controller
2 - The Power Supply
3 - The Speaker(s)
You will need to dedicate one TeleVantage station port to your paging system. You plug the power supply into the controller, connect the speaker to the controller, and plug the controller into your station port. If you need more than one speaker, just daisy chain speakers together (up to 20 speakers is fine).
Now create a user, call it "Paging System" or something similar. Don't give it a mailbox or anything.. Give it the station ID # of the station port you plugged the controller into. Now pick up a phone and call that extension - you will hear a beep - now start speaking and you will hear yourself over the speaker.
A Multi-Zone setup is very similar, except you will need one additional controller in the loop with the parts above.. This additional multi-zone controller goes between the first controller and your speakers. When you call the extension of your paging system, you are prompted to key in a zone number to speak on.
