How to Setup Music-On-Hold
Overview: Music on hold is quite simple - basically, we take audio from a radio, CD player, etc. and pump it into a TeleVantage station port. Anybody who is put on hold will hear this audio. Even though we are pumping it in through a TeleVantage station port, this station port does NOT require a station license =)
Step 1 - You should have received a Music on Hold cable along with your TeleVantage kit or system. This is a 9ft cable. Take the RJ11 (phone connector) end and plug it into any available TeleVantage Station port. Turn the volume down on your audio source, and plug the 1/8" male headphone plug into any audio source, such as a CD player, radio, or CD-ROM drive on your computer. You may also ground the green wire to a good grounding point - this is a good idea just in case your radio decides to spontaneously explode.
Step 2 - Run the TeleVantage Administrator, go to the Tools menu and select "System Settings" - under the "General" tab you will see "Use Hold Audio from Station Number:" - simply enter the station number that you plugged the RJ11 end of the cable into, and click OK. Call an extension from your system and have somebody put you on hold - adjust the volume appropriately. You're all set =)
